The Bare Lightbulb blog is an online community of creative thinkers unsatisfied with the American justice system. We creatively challenge the existence of true social justice, and examine the human costs of our current justice system. All the while we remember that humans at all moments of life deserve compassion and respect.
We publish our own forms of creative expression; we discuss news, literature, art, and more as well. Social justice and its implications for understanding fellow human beings is a multifaceted issue with deep intellectual and emotional implications. Through creative expression we hope to comment on the objective realities of the justice system – from arrest to court to prison, even execution – and on the profound emotional and societal consequences of it.
This is our attempt to empathize with millions of people who have discovered firsthand, as they struggle to move through the justice system, that justice may be a luxury rather than a right.
